About the Classic Jazz Society of Toronto

The Classic Jazz society of Toronto was formed in 1993 to promote the original form of jazz performed in the early part of the 20th Century. Classic Jazz includes 20's/30's style, Traditional, Dixieland and any other form of jazz up the swing era- the music made famous by such people as Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver, Bix Beiderbecke, and many others.

The Society organizes live concerts each year which have included bands from the USA, UK, France, Hungary, Poland, Germany and Sweden as well as top Canadian bands. Our concerts are presently held at the Estonian House, 958 Broadview Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, north of the Danforth and only a short distance away from public transit the Don Valley Parkway. Map

CJST has also staged two very successful  jazz festivals and is planning another for 2001 or 2002.
