Like the movie of the same name, "Some Like it Hot" is a unique group of five talented female musicians who have amassed a huge repertoire of songs since it's creation in 1984.  They sing and play in the style of the "HOT" bands of Chicago and New York of the 1920's such as King Oliver, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Bix Beiderbecke.  They bring humour and sensitivity to the music that we all enjoy.

Most of what you will remember the female cornetist/vocalist who played with the Swedish band "Paul and his Gang," one year ago for the CJST.  Kiki heads up "Some like it Hot," singing, playing cornet and is responsible for the arrangements of the group.

"Some Like it Hot's" reputation has spread far and wide with appearances, not only at some of the most prestigious European jazz festivals such as Nice in Franc; Lugano, Switzerland and Upton-upon-Severn in England, but have also appeared at the biggest festival of it's type in the world, the Dixieland Jubilee in Sacramento, California.

The line-up for the band is:

Kiki Desplat, cornet, vocals, arranger
Sylvette Claudet, clarinet, bass clarinet, vocals
Nathalie Renault, banjo, vocals
Shona Taylor, piano
Claude Jeantet, sousaphone, vocals

We were thrilled that "Some Like it Hot"   accepted our invitation to perform for the CJST on Saturday, March 3rd.  Their preformance was enjoyed by all.
